The hope of students of Kogi State University, Anyigba, to put an end to the over three months strike on Monday, 15 May, has been foiled as Academic Staff of University, ASUU, Kogi State Chairman University chapter insisted that their backlog salaries along with other issues must be fully settled by the state government before going back to class.
The chairman of ASUU, KSU chapter, Dr Daniel Aina was quoted to have said that all those staff that were tagged ghost workers or uncleared staff must be cleared and absolved.
"Those employed in 2015 whom government said were employed for political reasons must be absolved too. All those on contract appointments, those on study leave, etc whom govt refused to clear must be cleared and paid."
It was however gathered that, the cleared staff only received march salary last week without February and April.
Our source added that the state government is owing the institution earned allowance after failing to redeem it promise to release 50 million monthly to gradually offset it, adding that since January the government refused to honour the agreement.
