Kogi Institutions Strike: You Can Obey The Governor, Our Services Wouldn't Be Available Until We Receive Our Salaries- ASUP/NASUP Tell Rector
The striking lecturers and non academic staff of Kogi State Polytechnic have told the rector of the State Polytechnic, Alhaji Mohammed Isa to obey the state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello's order and resume but they will never be available until they receive all their outstanding salaries.
This was made known in a meeting between the Polytechnic Management and the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic (ASUP) and the Non Academic Staff Union of Polytechnic /(NASUP).
According to a reliable who spoke on condition of anonymity, "the Rector told both Unions that the government has instructed him to announce the State polytechnic resumption.
"He informed the Unions because the instruction was too complicated for him considering the consequences of such announcement for resumption; to the School, the School's infrastructures and the safety of the lives of those of them in the management."
In a swift response, the ASUP chapter Chairman, Mr Boluromi Samuel Sunday,
said the Rector can go ahead and obey the government but the services of the Academic and Non-academic Staff will not be available; since the payment of cleared list is yet to be made and not the minimum requirement for the staff in Polytechnic to resume must be met before they can engage our services.
He added that, "to this development, all Academic and Non-academic Staff are not to be confused when they hear news about resumption of Students on the Radio and Television."
