Barr Natasha Opens Builders Hub Community Learning Centre, Gives out 600 School bags
In her fervent quest to contribute her quota to societal building and have a literate society, the founder of the Builders Hub Impact Investment Programme, Barrister Natasha Akpoti, Thursday 18th May officially opened the Builders Hub Community Learning Resource Center in Ihima Okehi LGA of Kogi State, with distribution of 600 school bags sponsored by Dangote foundation to the 600 pupils adopted by the philanthropist in 2016.
The auspicious occasion was attended by traditional rulers, educationists, students unions and community stakeholders.
While given the opening prayer, the Obobanyi Ihima represented by HRH Salihu Adomu Avabe, appraised the relentless efforts of the Philanthropist adding she's an attestation of good Parental upbringing and seized the opportunity to advice parents to always give their best to the training of their children.
The Ohiomata of odumi clan, HRH. Otaru James Omeiza noted that he's overwhelmed with the heroic step taken by the founder of Builders Hub Foundation, while reminiscing the good reputation of late Dr. Jimoh Idris Akpoti, the father of Barrister Natasha Akpoti which the center was used to commemorate said Dr. Akpoti is not dead as his children continue to build on his legacy.
The Otaru of Idu clan on his own part noted that whoever knows late Dr. Jimoh Akpoti wouldn't be surprised seeing his daughter trailing this path, describing the late doctor as a man who lived to serve humanity.
The Otaru of Akuta clan, Alhaji Hazrat Salawudeen Ayuba, pointed out that Natasha's philanthropic gestures towards her fatherland is a mark of faith, adding that she has become a perfect example to those who think the female child is not important.
The acting education secretary to Okehi local government, Chief Ibrahim Odankaru Musa in his remark said the name Barrister Natasha Akpoti sounds like a holy name to him because of her numerous benevolent gestures in the society, describing her as a gift from God to Ebira nation.
The National President of Ihima Students' union (ISU), comrade Isah Amoto Bala appraised the goodwill of the philanthropist, assuring her of the unalloyed support of the union.
The President National Association of Ebira students (NAES), represented by the National Genenary Secretary of the union Comrade Musa Asuku, seized the opportunity to declare the support of the Ebira Students' union to the philanthropist.
While stating the aims and objectives for the Builders Hub Community Learning Resource Center, Natasha noted that the world has developed to a stage where human beings cannot do without computer in the current global village, and also there's concern to revive the reading culture that's fast fading away in Nigeria, hence the need to establish the Builders Hub Community Learning Center.
According to the founder of the Builder Hub Impact Investment Programme, "Education is the foundation of development and a key to societal growth and it has become important to contribute to its growth."
She added that with time, the Builders Hub Impact Investment will establish the same project in the other two senatorial districts of Kogi State.
The Builders Hub Community Learning Center which comprises 10 computer sets for training the people was officially opened alongside a mini library inside the center to revive the reading culture that's fast fading away.
According to the founder of Builders Hub Impact Investment Programme, the mini library contains 414 books centred on African cultures, tradition and African stories donated by the National Inland Water Resources.
While reacting to questions on the level of security put in place to ensure the safety of the materials, the coordinator of the Builders Hub Foundation, Comrade Lamisi Enesi Hamza explained that the centre has two security guards placed on monthly salaries to ensure safety of the place.
However, the founder of the center appealed to the members of the host community to ensure the safety of the materials as it belong to all and sundry, noting that damages or stolen of the materials in the center will discourage similar development in the land.
It will be recalled that the Builders Hub Impact Investment Programme had approached Okehi Local Government Authority in 2016 seeking the permission to revive the abandoned federal government project in the area to realise its initial dream. Upon the permission of the local government authority, the site was renovated, furnished and equipped by the Builders Hub Impact Investment Programme solely to promote literacy in the land.
