Motorists Groan as Okene-Lokoja Road Worsens
Motorists plying Okene-Lokoja road are currently going through excruciating pain because of the bad condition of the road.
The worst portion of the road is in front of the Federal College of Education Okene, the heart of Okene town, which happens to be the home town of the current governor of the state, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
There have been public outcry by the people of Kogi Central and Motorists who paid one thousand five hundred naira and spend five to six hours before they could reach Lokoja, the state capital, in a journey that will only cost N500, five hundred naira and maximum of two hours on a normal day.
One of the Motorists who spoke with Confluence Reporters on a condition of anonymity said, it has been a difficult experience noting that he has to pay N4000, four thousand naira from Okene to Abuja, and spent eight hours on the road. He lamented that on a normal day, Okene to Abuja will only cost N1,200, one thousand two hundred naira and maximum of four hours journey.
He added that upon all the outcry, the state government has refused to do anything to ameliorate the suffering of the motorists, saying the road is a federal road even when other state government are rehabilitating federal roads and get paid for it.
