Dino Melaye: Kogi Assembly erred by declaring Umar Imam’s seat vacant for leaving APC
The Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye has faulted the decision of Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Prince Matthew Kolawole to declare the seat of Rt. Hon. Umar Imam vacant for declaring to leave APC.
While reacting to the decision of the House to declare the Lokoja I constituency seat vacant, Melaye alleged that the action was nursed by Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello.
He urged Imam to challenge the decision in court and pledge his support for the embattled lawmaker.
“The action of Kogi State House of Assembly is wrong on Hon Imam. There is division in APC at all levels. INEC notified and case even in court. The Assembly acted in error as induced by the Governor. Hon Imam should head to court as you have my support,” he said.
Imam defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to contest the Lokoja-Kogi House of Representatives bye-election scheduled for August 11.
