Kogi Bye-Election: Collect ‘Your Money’ Before Voting, Gov. Bello Is An Unreliable Debtor | Titi Balogun

It is just few hours to the tension-soaked Lokoja/Koton Karfe House of Representatives bye-election and politicians are fully awake trying to outsmart one another. One issue that has raged unabated is the plan to buy votes during the Saturday, August 11 election.

Opposition parties contesting in the election have raised alarm that the ruling party APC is determined to win the election by compromising voters at the polling units. I have also read that INEC is helpless on this vote buying issue. I will advise all serious contestants in this election to go all out and look for money because the world will call you a failure if you lose, vote buying or not. Look for money and buy yours too. The electoral umpire will not stop any party from buying votes during this election.

However, I want to warn voters in Lokoja/Koton Karfe Federal constituency not to vote for the candidate of APC, Haruna Isah on credit! I heard that the strategy is for voters to cast their votes, ensure the action is verified by the APC agents then get paid later, maybe a day after the election. Please, don’t fall for that crap.

Yahaya Bello is not a reliable debtor. Odds are he won’t fulfill his part of the agreement after the results have been announced. No money, no vote! Don’t vote for APC on credit.

During the 2015 APC governorship primaries, many will recall that same Yahaya Bello issued a N100,000 redemption card to delegates with a promise to redeem the payment after primaries. He lost the primaries to Prince Abubakar Audu and that promise is still unfulfilled as we speak. Yahaya Bello is an unreliable debtor!

Since his assumption of office as governor, Yahaya Bello has repeatedly failed to keep to his promises on civil servants salary. You can’t trust him with money, please, don’t vote for his candidate on credit! He won’t pay after the election.

These are the days of prepaid recharge cards, prepaid NEPA meters, insist on prepaid voting services. Tell Yahaya Bello, Haruna Isah and their agents that your votes cannot be postpaid in the era of prepaid services.

Do not hesitate to collect the N5,000 or N10,000 per vote, it is our money; money meant for roads, salaries, pensions, electrification and other infrastructural projects. If you refuse to collect it, they will divert it into personal purse. They are bent on not paying salaries and executing projects.

For those that will ignore this godly counsel, please don’t bother us with lamentations when he fails to pay you after the elections.

In anyway, the only hope of APC coming 3rd or 4th in this bye-election is vote buying. I wish Lokoja/Kotonkarfe electorate the best of luck!
