2019: Engr. Mike Omanayi Pays Courtesy Call to Okehi PDP Stalwarts, Declares Intention for Kogi Central Senaate

The aspirant vying to represent the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District come 2019, Engr. Mike Omananyi, has paid a courtesy call to the leaders of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Okehi LGA, declaring his ambition to vie for Kogi Central senate and bring the much needed dividends of democracy to the people if given the mandate.

Introducing the aspirant to the local government executives of the party, the PDP party chairman in Okehi LGA, Hon. Aroke Adinoyi aka Take Over, said the aspirant should convince him and his executives the reason they should support him and what he has that would bring the ideal representative government to the people.

The aspirant in a swift response explained that he is not in the race with the old belief of do or die affair neither is he in the race for self-enrichment adding that after watching from outside it is time to stop whining and join the race and change things for better.

"I am not here today to distribute money to everybody present here  to buy your vote over. I believe there is no amount I can distribute to each and everyone of you that will be equal to what  you have done for yourself. Am here to represent your interest at the upper chamber to right the wrongs if voted into the office.

"If all of us refuse to join politics and we continue to complain of bad governance, we will never get it right, the least amongst us will continue to mismanage our collective patrimony.

"There is no better time than now, we cannot continue to complain, it is time to change things ourselves", he said.

Omananyi assured that if the people of Kogi Central give him their mandates, he is not going to promise that he will distribute money to every household, but he will influence developmental projects that will wear the society a beautiful outlook.

He noted that Many people now have apathy for politics due to the poor performance of government over the years, explaining that if everybody assume the office of complainants about the abnormalities in governance who will be the one change the status quo?

"For you to be convinced that if am voted into the office I will help and extend my stewardship to the community and the entire senatorial district that I represent. When I was a student leader at university of Ilorin during my undergraduate programme, I can count many of Ebira people whom I influenced their admission then.

"In the history of University of Ilorin no other tribe has ever held the position of SUG President of the school, I was the one who changed the status quo and since then, no other tribe has done it. If I can influence lives positively then with the little capacity, tell me how much more I am going to influence if am enthrusted with the responsibility", he said.

Confirming the sterling qualities of the aspirant, Mr. Haruna a treasurer to the local government affirmed that Omananyi is someone whom he had known  long time ago.

"His late father Chief James Omananyi who contributed immensely to the development of the society and the PDP, has a good reputation to reckon with.

According to him,  "king begets king, if his late father, Chief James Omananyi was able to impact the society positively when he was alive, there should be no doubt that if his son is given opportunity to lead this senatorial district he is going to impact the society more than what his father has done.

One of the loyalist of the party, urges the aspirant to have the spirit of oneness in him and cultivate the spirit to embrace every other aspirant contesting for the same position with him under the party.

He maintained that the aspirant should expect more enemies now that he has declared his ambition publicly, that many people will lie against him, and say what other aspirants didn't say just to cause problem him and his fellow contestants. "You must know how to deal with this decisively", he said.

Appreacting the support given to him by the local government executives of the party, he reiterated that he is coming out to contest for senate is not a do or die affair.

He disclosed that he will give his support to whoever emerges as the party flag bearer, adding that if by God grace he becomes the flag bearer of the party, he expects the same support from other contestants and other members of the party.
