Fear of SDP By Kogi APC Uncalled For - Kogi SDP Chair
The Kogi State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party says the fear of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, about its gigantic new office complex in Lokoja is unnecessary, uncalled for and a sign of trepidity for the rising popularity and acceptance of the SDP.
The Kogi State Chairman, SDP, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah stated this in a statement. He opined that the SDP has it on good authority that the APC is not comfortable with the new SDP office Secretariat indulging itself in sleepless nights seeking ways to revoke the party's tenancy.
The Chairman maintained that he has been reliably informed that the ruling APC, worried by the edifice representing the new SDP Secretariat located opposite the Lokoja LGA Secretariat, has approached the owner of the property, through the National Security Adviser, to terminate the tenancy of the SDP.
The SDP's State Chairman pointed out that for the benefit of emphasis, the property in question was paid for by LegendArk limited for office purposes, until it was graciously donated to SDP for its temporary use which is not against the tenancy terms and conditions of agreement, stating that the landlord knew for what purpose it was to serve.
That the Kogi APC led government of the day had started pressurizing the landlord to renege on the agreement already signed and sealed because it felt threatened by SDP’s emergence as the preferred best alternative to the unimaginable crisis it has plunged kogi state into as a result of its gross incompetence and ineptitude, is no doubt childish and unsportsmanlike.
Similarly, the SDP wish to query the fear of Kogi APC, wondering why the nearness in location of the two political party's Secretariat should cause her sleepness nights to the extent of seeking to instigate the landlord to revoke the tenancy of the SDP.
Atimah likened the situation to a case of normal businesses, where people should be allowed to have the sole prerogative of choice. He went further to remind those who knew Lokoja well enough of the relationship between the then Moremi and Gloria restaurants which were once neighbors.
He also sited another example of two supermarkets, chucks and discount, that were also neighbors but lived and did the same line of business in peace and harmony.
He wondered why Kogi APC could not stand the SDP being their neighbor. He appealed to them to sale their wares in peace as he intends to do the same unintimidated.
"We in the SDP, therefore, think that the fear of APC regarding the location of the new SDP state Secretariat is uncalled for, but borne out of the wide acceptability the party is enjoying ahead of the November governorship election.
"We make bold to state that as a party, we are resolute in rescuing Kogi from the hands of adventurers in government, assuring Kogi People that SDP is the new bride set to occupy Lugard House come 2020", Alh. Mouktar Atimah said.
