Kogi Govt Advises Civil Servants To Prepare For Tough Time

Kogi State government has advised the civil servants in the state to prepare for tough time ahead in the face of the present economic uncertainty in the world.

This was disclosed by the State Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, Mukadam Asiwaju Asiru Idris at the state capital when addressing newsmen after the state commenced payment of March Salaries.

The Finance Commissioner said the state has demonstrated her commitment to workers' welfare despite the shortfall on the monthly allocation to the state, advised the workers to invest their money wisely and prepare for tough time ahead of the present economic uncertainty.

The commissioner noted that this is not the right time for the workers to use their salaries to embark on gigantic project that will not have direct bearing on their lives.

According to the Commissioner, oil which is Nigeria main source of revenue has dropped to all time low of $20 per barrel at the international market because of the Civic-19 pandemic which he said he descrived as "threatening global economic uncertainty" which he said means tpugher times ahead as oil price still goes down at the international market.

Recall that Governor Yahaya Bello had earlier promised to make the workers' salaries a top priority in his second term administration, a thing he was largely flayed for during his first tenure.

Since the governor resumed his first tenure on January 27, 2020, the governor has tried to keep to the promise of attending more to the state civil servants and currently working to redeem his image and earn the supports of the citizens of the state.
