I visited 564 Polling Units On Election Day, Dino Melaye Claims At Tribunal

Former Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the November 16 Kogi West Senatorial rerun election has claimed that he visited all the 564 polling units on the election day.

Senator Dino Melaye who testified on Monday at the ongoing Kogi State National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja said he was able to visit 564 polling units on the election day and monitored the election.

While testifying before Justice Isa Sambo-led Tribunal, Dino Melaye challenged the outcome of the election that was won by his long time political enemy, Senator Smart Adeyemi of the All Progressives Congress, APC,
Melaye's agents at the election had earlier testified against him, saying the election was free and fair.

On cross examination, the lead Counsel to Senator Smart Adeyemi, Oladapa Otitoju, asked if Melaye was aware that his party agents had testified against his claim, Melaye said his agents cannot speak for him as he cannot speak for them as well.

While answering question on where he got the information of irregularities in the election he presented to the Tribunal, Melaye said, ”I was everywhere on the election day in the 564 units.”

Melaye is currently fighting a legal battle at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja, challenging the victory of Smart Adeyemi of APC, praying to be declared the winner of the election having scored the highest number of valid votes.
