After Okada, Keke NAPEP Ban, Lagosians Still Confuse On Alternative Option

The Residents of Lagos State are currently confused on the next option available after facing the reality of the ban of the activities of commercial motorcyclists, popularly called, “Okada” and tricyclists, “Keke NAPEP, ” by the state government in some selected areas of the state on February 1, 2020.

Recalled that the state government has insisted on imposing the ban after many Lagosians included the Okada riders and the tricyclists protested the new traffic law in the state.

Speaking with Opera News on Sunday, a resident of Apapa Local Government Area of state who pleaded for anonymity said they are currently confused on the next available option, adding that if the situation continues without providing alternative option by the state government that implies that they will be trekking about 3kilometer per day before entering cab.

According to the source, him and his family members are currently passing through the pain to attend church service, describing the new traffic law as act of recklessness without putting the average Lagosians who use it as means of transportation on daily basis into consideration.

The source added that because of the high demand for transportation after the ban, commuters are currently stranded as “Danfo” drivers hike their fares.
On the other hand, the Lagos State government who had earlier announced on Monday that the state government will commence total enforcement of Reform Traffic Law of 2018 on activities of operators of Okada riders and Keke Napep in 15 Local Government Areas of the State on February 1, 2020 described the development as "impressive satisfactory".

However, some Residents of the state have commended the bold step taken by the state government, describing it as a measure that will sanitize the ever crowdy Lagos State.
