Natasha VS Oseni: Appeal Court Releases Document, Backs Dismissal of Oseni's Appeal, Fine

More details have emerged on the judgement of the Appeal Court which fine Yakubu Oseni of APC and dismissed his appeal to upturn the ruling of the Tribunal that granted Natasha Akpoti of SDP the right to use the evidence gathered in the course of inspecting INEC materials used for 2019 Kogi Central Senatorial Election.

In a paper document released by the appellant court, the three man bench led by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, delivered the ruling on Friday July 26, which dismissed Yakubu Oseni's appeal to uphold the ruling of the Tribunal which granted Natasha Akpoti of SDP the right to use the evidence gathered in the course of inspecting INEC materials used for the senatorial election, thereby upheld the ruling of the Tribunal.

Oseni had earlier approached the Court of Appeal on June 6 to seek the relief of the appellant court to upturn the ruling of the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal which granted Natasha Akpoti to add additional witness statement and  use the evidence gathered in the course of inspecting INEC materials for the senatorial election which showed among others, non accreditation of voters and over voting in Okene, Adavi and Ajaokuta local government will now be used in the course of Tribunal judgement.

Contrary to the claim of the camp of Yakubu Oseni which refuted the ruling of the appellant court and the fine of their boss by the Court of Appeal, the document of the appellant court shows that Oseni's appeal in a petition No. CA/A/EPT/527/2019 was dismissed for lack of merit and ordered to pay the sum of two hundred thousand naira each to Natasha Akpoti and SDP.

Natasha Akpoti of SDP is challenging Yakubu Oseni of APC for wrongly returned as the winner of 2019 Kogi Central senatorial election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in an election alleged to be characterised by massive rigging, intimidation amongst others.

Meanwhile, the prejudgment proceeding of the Kogi Central Senatorial Election Petition Tribunal will be coming on Monday August 19 at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja.
