Kogi Guber: Women Group, Minister of Women Affairs Back Natasha

The minister of Women Affairs, and Social Development, Dame Pauline Tallen and the Nigeria apex women group, National Council for Women Societies (NCWS), on Tuesday, threw their weight behind Natasha Akpoti for Kogi State governor.



Addressing the press after a meeting with Natasha Akpoti and the representatives of National Council for Women Societies,
the minister said it is time for women to support and encourage women for active participation in politics.
She added that from now on there's going to be a positive change in women participation in Nigerian politics.

"As you can see the governorahip aspirant for Kogi State, Natasha Akpoti is in our midst, it is time for women to support their own and have active participation in politics.

"We intend to have more women not just coming out to participate in the process but being a winner of the election, we hope to have women as governors, speakers and the rest. We are going to change the narrative this time, it's time for women to actively participate in politics", she said.

The Women Affairs Minister said, she has set a committee to finding lasting solution to women marginalization in politics, promising better days ahead for Nigerian women in politics.

The minister who said she has been a member of National Council for Women Societies since 1986 promised to work with the apex women group to help the Nigerian women, adding that they cannot afford to fail Nigerian women.

Also speaking, the president National Council for Women Societies, Dr Gloria Laraba Shoda
expressed satisfaction that one of their own is steering the ministry of women affairs and championing the support for women active participation in politics.

Reacting, Akpoti appreciated the minister of women Affairs and Social Development for prioritising women active participation in politics.         

"I am going back to my state to commence campaign and I believe beyond Party line, the minister is going to use all the machineries in place to ensure our victory.

"My vision is towards advancement of Kogi State to make it an industrial hub of the country and promote social justice", she said.
