Chukwudi Akasike The Ijaw Youth Council has called on the National Assembly to override the veto of President Muhammadu Buhari on the 2018 Electoral (Amendment) Bill. IYC President, Mr. Eric Omare, who made this call on Friday while speaking with Saturday PUNCH, said the refusal of the President to assent the bill was personal and not for the sake of the nation. Omare explained that the content of the Electoral Act would prevent the rigging of election, especially as Nigerians prepare to vote in the 2019 general election. He said, “We condemn it (refusal to sign the Electoral (Amendment Bill) as being unpatriotic; it raises personal interest over and above national interest. “President Buhari’s reasons for not signing the Electoral Act into law are weak, feeble and unacceptable.
