Kidnappings: IGP Monitors Police Deployment On Abuja-Kaduna Highway

With the impeachment incessant cases of kidnappings, armed robberies and other violent crimes on Abuja-Kaduna road, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on Thursday, 13th July, 2017 conducted an operational visit of the Police personnel deployed on crime prevention, control and detection on Abuja-Kaduna highway.



A statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Jimoh Moshood said the IGP also addressed the people in the communities and other stakeholders in the towns and villages along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway on the need to be vigilant and cooperate with police personnel deployed for the operations.

“While in Suleja, the IGP paid a courtesy call on the Emir of Zazzan, Suleja, Alhaji Muhammad Awwal Ibrahim to commiserate with him over the disaster caused by flood in the Area and condoled him and the people of Suleja over the incident.

He also visited Suleja Area Command under Niger State Police Command and Zuba Division in Federal Capital Territory before proceeding to other locations in Kaduna and Kano States.

Moshood said the Inspector General of Police and his entourage spent hours before reaching Kaduna.

“On his way he addressed officers and men deployed on Abuja-Kaduna Highway, on the Kaduna side, he encouraged them to fight crime and criminality to its barest in the area.

“The Police personnel were in high morale. The IGP also addressed the personnel of the Military and other sister security agencies on joint operations with the Police personnel at Alherikam on Abuja-Kaduna Highway.

“He impressed on them the need to work in synergy and cooperation in the interest of National Security”.

Recall that earlier in June, 2017 the IGP made additional deployment of Six hundred (600) Police personnel of Special Intervention Forces, comprising Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Counter Terrorism Units, Federal Highway Patrol Teams, Safer highway patrols, Intelligent Response Team (IRT), Special Tactical Squad (STS), Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and Anti-Kidnapping Units to root out vicious and notorious kidnap for ransom and armed robbery gangs that were responsible for many kidnappings and armed robberies along Abuja-Kaduna Highway and render the Abuja-Kaduna Highway safe for motorists, travellers, and other road users.

The operations has been yielding positive results.
Meanwhile, IGP Kpotun-Idris has commiserated with the Kano State Government and family of late elder Statesman, Yusuf Maitama Sule.

The IGP paid a condolence visit to be the family of late Alhaji Sule Maitama-Yusuf, Kano government, Emir and entire people of Kano state over the demise of an elder statesman, late Yusuf Sule-Maitama.

IG Idris who was received by the Secretary to the state government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji on behalf of Gov Abdullahi Ganduje at the government house described the decease as a peace builder.

Idris Kpotun who also visited the family of late Sule Maitama Sule, described the loss as monumental and irreparable.

The police boss lamented that the demise of the highly respected Danmasani had denied kano people and the country in general the opportunity to continue to benefiting from the wealth of experience.

“The late Maitama Sule showed love to his people who live in his domain, irrespective of their tribe, religious inclination and in spite of these he was a Godly man who has the interest of his Nigerians at heart above any other thing”, he said.

The police boss said that he was deeply touched when he received the sad news that Maitama Sule, had passed on, adding that his death is a huge loss not only to Kano kingdom, but also to Kano state and the nation as a whole.

He said that it was significant that throughout his remarkable life, the late Danmasani retained the humble and unassuming mien of a technocrat, saying as a leader, he retained the respect of all and sundry.

“He was a bridge builder, an amiable personality who is at home with his people, whose vacuum will be difficult to fill’, he added.

“He was a great leader and his network of friends extended beyond the shores of Nigeria.

“He was indeed unique in his leadership and deep in his faith in Allah. May his exemplary leadership in promoting peace, unity and progress of Nigeria be remembered as his legacy towards making Nigeria a better place to live”, IG Idris added.

The police chief prayed to God to grant him Aljanna Fildausi and to as well give to family the fortitude to bear the loss with calm.
