AJaokuta: Beyond Public Deciet, Gov Bello's Response And The Critical Questions Nigerians Should Ask | Hamza Lamisi

On the occasion of Ebira Peoples Association's (EPA) meeting with Governor Yahaya Bello, while the supposed crucial topic was barely treated, a representative of the Sole Administrator of Ajaokuta raised the issue concerning Ajaokuta and the need to recall the Original Builders to complete the steel company for the people.

In response to the above matter raised, Governor Bello said; he believe the Russians should come back and complete Ajaokuta, that he wrote up two executive summaries to discuss with President Muhammad Buhari whenever he returns to the country with sound health.

He however stated that " I wouldn't say anything that relate to Ajaokuta until the discussion between me and the president who is a listenable father of mine".

The questions we should ask here are:
1. If the governor really believes in the genuine resuscitation of ASCL and the technical capacity of the Original Builders thereby meaning his words beyond public deceit, why not advice the Federal Government to engage with the Oringinal Builders directly? Why pushing the "deal" through a company called Ajaokuta Kogi Nigeria Limited GYB co-owns with Global Infrastructure Nigeria Limited/ Alh. Musa Bello. A company whose questionable registration and ownership is being probed by CAC.

2. Is it after he has used Ajaokuta Kogi Nigeria Limited to concession the steel company that the Original Builders will come in?

3. If Governor Bello is really dealing with Kogi People and Nigerians with sincerity of purpose, why can't he make reference to his effort to register a company which Kogi state has no share and the Directors of the company bearing Anchava Emmanuel, Ikechukwu and the rest? Is the company owned by the Original Builders?

4. Accepted that he wants Ajaokuta to work, but work for who? For his pocket and Musa Bello? Or for the people? Let us be clear of this please.

5. ASCL is a Federal Asset so why disenfranchising other state stakeholders. What about Niger Delta states whose oil paid for the existing structures?

6. Now that he is waiting for the president before he will do anything concerning Ajaokuta, for how long will Ajaokuta wait for Buhari to return when we have the acting president who has been attending to issues facing different states across the nation. And what happen to the Hon. Minister of Solid Mineral if there is no hidden agenda?

7. Now that Buhari is the only saviour that can determine the faith of Ajaokuta what if he dies (may he live long in sound health...Ameen) does that mean Ajaokuta will die as well?

8. What does it take the Governor to call on people like Dr. Mohammed Sanusi of African Iron and Steel Association, Barr. Natasha Akpoti who brought TPE the original builders to the knowledge of every Nigerian, Society of Engineers, Nigeria Metalurical Society, Distinguished Senators representing Kogi state, House of Rep Members from the state and their likes and have a round table meeting with them for proper and effective way forward instead of beating round the bush and having all his eggs in one basket which is the most unreliable of all hopes?

ASCL is extremely delicate and a collation of professional stakeholders is extremely important (if all hearts and intents are clear).

Why is GYB forging a coalition with the GINL, the enemies of ASCL, NIOMCO, Delta steel and the cause of Ogaminana crises ?

Enough of this public deceit by the Governor. He should realise that time is far spent and nothing is done yet on Ajokauta except he is preparing to back to the site again and do the second weeping as he rightly mentioned that he wept when he visited the site.

We will not stop until the people can smile at Ajaokuta of their desire.

God bless Ajaokuta
God bless Nigerians
