Dino Melaye Says he is Happy to miss ‘joke’ as APC holds convention
The controversial Kogi State Senator, Dino Melaye, appears to have taken a swipe at his political party, describing the Saturday convention of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as a joke.
The lawmaker, who is presently not in the country, took to his Instagram page with the handle @dinomelaye to express his happiness at not attending the convention.
“Happy to be away from the joke going on in Naija (Nigeria) today,” the post read.

Although he did not mention the APC, the ruling party is holding its national convention today, where a new set of party officials are expected to be elected.
Mr Melaye has repeatedly criticised the APC, the party on whose platform he was elected as senator. He recently requested to be allowed to sit with the opposition PDP during plenary.
He has also criticised President Muhammadu Buhari.
He is a member of the New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) who have threatened to pull out of the APC over alleged marginalisation.
Apart from surviving a recall which he blamed on his state APC governor, Yahaya Bello, Mr Melaye is also being prosecuted by the police in two separate charges in Abuja and Kogi.
In Abuja, he is being prosecuted for attempted suicide after forcing himself off a police vehicle to escape being taken to Kogi, where he is also being prosecuted for allegedly arming thugs.
He has denied any wrongdoing and has linked his travails to his stiff opposition to the policies of the APC led government.
Mr Bello, Mr Melaye’s political arch rival, was the forts governor to arrive the Eagles Square Saturday, venue of the convention.
