By Itodo Daniel Sule

Ahead of the forthcoming general elections, policemen have been deployed to flashpoints and vulnerable areas in Kogi State, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Hakeem Busari, disclosed this yesterday.

The CP, in a statement by the spokesman of the command, DSP Williams Aya, said the command had reviewed its operational capacity to protect lives and property before, during and after the elections.

“Security threat assessment and deployment of police personnel to flashpoints and vulnerable areas have been carried out to prevent and nip in the bud any form of inter party frictions as well as political thuggery and clashes that can lead to disturbance of public peace anywhere in the state.

“All political parties were advised to abide by the Electoral Act 2010 ( as amended) and INEC Guidelines, and play the game according to the rules”, he said.

He said the command would ensure proper monitoring of campaigns and rallies to avoid conflict of interests, carrying of dangerous weapons and making hate speeches.
