Now That The People Are Angry With Kogi State Governor | Stephen Ojate

Leadership comes with lots of challenges. The origin of followers rising against their Leaders dated back to the existence of mankind. The historical account of Moses in the Bible while taking the people of Israelites from Egypt to the promised land and the revolt of the people against him led credence to this proclamation.
Gov. Yahaya Bello

It should be noted that every nation of the World experienced some degrees of challenges most especially where the citizen of the country revolt against their Leaders. People revolt against Leaders in power because of draconian law, unfriendly policies and programmes. The dissatisfaction people have on governmental policies and programme usually trigger up protest by the citizens.

Using Nigeria as a reference point, there are countless of such instance where the people of the country rise against Leader by open show discontentment on government policies and programme. On this note, the writer of this article will not be wrong to say that every past Nigerian Leaders have had their shares of this but the ground at which the society rose against the government in power differs from administration to administration.

The recent past incidence of such in our Nation where the citizens of the country rose against the Leader was during former President Jonathan’s administration. The Nation economic activities of the country were grounded due to protest that enveloped the nation then following the planned fuel price hike.

Thus, we are presently experiencing such scenario in Kogi State where the people revolt or stage protests against the government in power. One incidence that has taking prominence is the claimed 15months of unpaid salaries to some category of Workers which prompted Nigeria Labour Congress, Kogi State branch to be on indefinite strike.

The issue of unpaid salaries in Kogi State is in no doubt causing a serious damage to the government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello and seems overshadowing all his good works in the State. Because of delay in salary payment to some category of Workers in the State, many are angry with the Governor and they don’t want to hear anything other than prompt salary payment.

A visit to social media platform will avail one the opportunity of knowing the State of mind of average people in the State. Annoyance over unpaid salary have made many now to tag Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello as evil and devil incarnate God sent to torment the people. Many are regretting having Alhaji Yahaya Bello as Leader cum the Governor of the State. Many are regretting voting Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the last election. Many are already dusting their Voters’ Card in readiness in vote out Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the next election while he still have two good years to correct his mistake or adjust his doing to meet the yearning and expectation of the people.

In view of annoyance of people against Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and the subsequent resolves of some people to tag him devil from God to torment the people of the State, these then shall form the bases of this my article today.

We all agreed that the coming of the present Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello was by divine providence. Thus, anything divine usually has the hands of almighty God and indeed always from God.  If that is so, can God then be an authored of confusion in bringing Alhaji Yahaya Bello to power to lead as Governor of the State? The answer is no. God is a perfect one and cannot make a mistake or do things in error.

Just like i have said earlier that God mandated prophet Moses to rescue and take the people of Israel from Egypt to the promised land, can we say the journey was all bread of roses? Can we say the Israelites never had bitter experience on their Journey? Can we say the Israelites never cried against their Leader (Prophet Moses) for taking them out of Egypt? Can we say the rescued Israelites never say they would have preferred staying back at Egypt than to their hallowing experience encountered in the course of their journey to the promised land? Can we say the Israelites at one time never revolted or rose against prophet Moses on his leadership style?

Yes, they did. They considered their journey to the promised Land as distasting. They called Prophet Moses all sorts of names and all stemmed on their prevailing annoyance. Does then implies Prophet Moses was not from God? Does it mean God made an error for sending prophet Moses to rescue the Israelites from the hands of Egyptians? The answer is no.

If i am correct with the above postulation, God had not made any mistake in bringing Alhaji Yahaya Bello to Kogi State to lead the people contrary to people assertion. Yes, he might have erred in some of his policies and actions but that is not a good justification to say that he is devilly sent by God to torment the people of Kogi State.

Alhahji Yahaya Bello is God sent to redeem the people and i quite know that the mission of God will be accomplished through him in Kogi State. We might be experiencing stumbling block in one way or the other now but i am very optimistic that there are good things ahead of us as he mean well for the people.

Let me declare that no Leader can do things in isolation and for this reason he needs our support, cooperation and prayer.  So, let us support and pray for Alhaji Yahaya Bello to lead us wisely in his quest to take the people of Kogi State to the promised Land.
