Ihima Students' Union Sets The Pace, Calls for Ebira Cultural Renaissance

The oldest students union in Ebira land, Ihima Students' Union (ISU) has once again set the pace for other students' union in Kogi Central to trail after the union successfully organised spelling Bee for primary schools, quiz and debating competition for secondary schools where the students keenly debated the topic "The Need for Ebira Cultural Renaissance."


As the first students' union established in Ebira land in 1959, the union has been at the forefront of educational development in the district, ranging from organizing of educational submit, annual spelling Bee, Quiz and Debating Competition, Beauty Pageant, Talent Hunt and scholarship for outstanding students and the less privileged.

The grand finale of the 2017 edition of the unions competitions sponsored by the Director General Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Mr. Abdulkarim Abdulmalik was held recently and witnessed a large turn out.

The executive governor of the State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello was ably represented by the commissioner for water resources, Barrister Salami Momodu Ozigi, parents, traditional rulers, teachers and school proprietors were also in attendance and about 35 pupils were awarded scholarship.
