Council Boss: We Are Ready To Flush Out Criminals From Okene

The Administrator of Okene Local government Area of Kogi State, Hon. Abdulrazaq Muhammad has reiterated his readiness and assured the people of Okene Local government Area  of his government's  commitment to flush out criminals from the area.



Explaining the success made in the area of security in the zone, Hon. Abdulrazaq  took out time to give the account of the success to the people he described as respected elders, noting  that  his government has invested so much on security  since his  assumption of office.

He therefore assured them that, government and security agencies will not rest on it oars until criminals are completely wiped out of the Council area.

The Council boss solicited the support of the elders and the general public to volunteer credible information on the movement and hide out of suspected criminals and assured them of his government policy to protect any informant and reward them as well.

In a swift response, the Elders in Okene Local government under the aegis of Okene Elders Forum (OEF) said that they are in the Administrator's office  to intimate the Council boss  urgent  issues which required his urgent attention.

Speaking on behalf of the elders, the Chairman of the forum, Alh. Nasiru Soso who presented the forum's agenda and concern to the Council Chairman,  noted that  top on the agenda are issues of security and increase in social vices among youths.

While the group  commended  the State and the Local government for the various security measures put in place to curb the high rate of Kidnappings, arm robberies and assassinations, the forum however stressed the need to sustain the tempo.

The group also encouraged the government to sponsor prayers among the inter-religious  faith as one of the veritable tool to curb insecurity.

In his contribution, a veteran politician and elder statesman, Alh. Abubakar Umar (L.O) described the prevalence of drug abuse among youths as the number one causes of insecurity in Ebiraland especially Okene Local government.

He maintained that, increase in demand and consumption of substances like hard and restricted drugs (Tramadol), Indian hemp, syrups, classified alcoholic wines among others,  are the root cause of insanity and loss of conscience among youths of Ebiraland.

The elders appealed to government to help in curbing the sales and distribution of these dangerous and destructive substances.
