Visa Ban: Priority of Govt is to Turn Kogi Into a ‘USA’ – Commissioner

By Mohammed Yabagi.

As the report about the alleged banning of certain politicians in Kogi State from traveling to the United States of America (USA) continues to make traction on some timelines, the State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Muhammed (Bashir Gegu) has laughed it off, wondering what they should go and look for in the US in the first place.

In an interview with our reporter in Lokoja, the Commissioner said he laughed it off because the story was being overblown to massage the egos of few individuals who disagree with the current administration in the state.

He wondered why people without anything to contribute to society would invest their time in such stories when in actual fact, they should be thinking of how to join the government of Governor Yahaya Bello to move the state forward.

The Commissioner said he was not bothered and that he doubts if the Governor is losing any sleep over the matter given the priority he is giving to issues that concern investments and economic development for the state. Engr Bashir Gegu urged supporters and APC party loyalists to go about their duties without being perturbed because the priority of government is how to turn Kogi into a ‘USA’ unto itself.

He debunked the allegation of rigging of the November 2019 polls in the state, maintaining that citizens voted the government back to power in view of the tremendous achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello in all sectors.

The commissioner noted that Kogi people are solidly behind the government of Governor Bello irrespective of what the narratives of the naysayers.
