Transformational Strides Of Kogi Poly Rector, Dr Usman Ogbo - Comr. Ondeku Sadiq Momoh

 TRANSFORMATIONAL STRIDES OF DR. USMAN OGBO SALISU, FCIA, PhD. LED MANAGEMENT AND THE RECENTLY CONFIRMATION AS SUBSTANTIVE RECTOR, KOGI STATE POLYTECHNIC, LOKOJA BY HIS EXCELLENCY THE EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR OF KOGI STATE, ALH. YAHAYA ADOZA BELLO PORTRAY NEW DIRECTION.

Dr. Usman Ogbo Salisu assumed office as Acting Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic on the April 7th, 2020 by the Executive Governor of Kogi State His Excellency Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello

Dr. Usman is a Member of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA), Member Association of Nigerian University Professional Administration (ANUPA) and Fellow Institute of Corporate Administration (FCIA).

Dr. Usman was one time Deen Student Affairs and Head of Department (HOD) Political Science in the presitigeous Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba before his present appointment as Acting Rector Kogi State polytechnic.

His First Mission was to restore peace from Chaos and developments in the institution, to achieve this, he setup different committees of different policies and started implementing their finding and recommendation.

He operate an open door policy whereby any staff or students is free to see him on any matter about the institution.

INFRASTRUCTURAL EXPANSION

In the area of inadequate infrastructure in the Institution, Dr. Usman has addressed the problem with impressive success.

Kogi State polytechnic, Lokoja was established in 1992, since the institution came on board there is no meaningful developments recorded by the institution, infact the institution was regularly criticized in the past for its dilapidated and outdated infrastructure development polytechnic in the Country. Within the short time of Dr. Usman led Management changed the narrative by swung into action.

✓ Building of a model security house.

✓ Restructuring of the old library complex to a 30 bed Medical Centre named after the Late mother of the Kogi State Governor, Hajia Hauwau Oziohu Bello.

✓ Over 500 seats lecture theatre has now been modernized to international School Standard.

✓ The visionary Ag. Rector awarded Six TETFUND projects contract to give the Polytechnic an administrative building.

✓ Purchase of two (2) Buses for SUG.

✓ Renovation of the outdated big Halls (LT "A" and LT "B").

✓ Restoration of internet services to the campus after over five years of non existence.

✓ Payment of inherited electricity bill and improvement in the supply of electricity to the campus.

✓ Creation of the first ever legal Unit in the Polytechnic.

✓ Changing of the template of "STATEMENT OF RESULTS" with fortified security features such as barcode to prevent forgery and lot more to mention.

On the 10th September, 2020 His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello storms the institution for commissioning projects in the school campus.

Governor Bello applaud Acting Rector Dr Usman and describes him as an icon who "turned Lemon into Lemonade within short stay in office"

Governor Bello said the Acting Rector " Can do spirit" Which has brought about the massive pace of development in the institution was also demanded from all other appointees of his Administration as his second tenure progresses.

CONCLUSION

The Dr. S. O. Usman led Management from the above account has touched almost every sphere of the institution.

I warmly congratulate Dr. S. O. Usman on his confirmation appointment and landmark achievements in the Polytechnic.
