ISU 2017 Spelling Bee, Quiz, Debating competition Begin In Grand Style
The 2017 Ihima Students' Union (ISU) Spelling Bee, Quiz and debating competition have begun in a manner that could be described as grand style on Monday 20th March 2017.
The competition started with a Spelling Bee and quiz competition. The President of the union, Comrade Isah Amoto Bala, described the spelling bee as a special package for the primary school pupils. The audience were taken aback by the outstanding performance of the pupils which prompted the immediate past NAKOS President of Fed. Poly Ida Comrade Haruna Bashir and immediate past national President of ISU Comr Yusuf Haruna to dished out seven hundred naira to one of the outstanding representatives.
At the end of the spelling bee, the following schools emerge as the winners
1. Victory Nursery and primary school- 1st Position
2. LGEA Baptist Primary School -2nd Position
3. Wisdom International Nur./Pri. School -3rd Position.
It was immediately followed with a quiz Competition for Secondary school categories. The quiz which comprises questions from English and Mathematics was one of the best in the history of ISU as the students shown their academic prowess beyond imaginations. After the auspicious programme, the following schools emerged as the winners.
1. Ansarul Islam Secondary School Oboroke - 1st Position
2. Holy Flock of Christ Secondary School Obeiba -2nd Position
3. Ebira Muslim College Ikuehi -3rd Position.
The Competition continues as Secondary Schools will be meeting tomorrow (Tuesday) for the first round of debating competition with the topic " Influence of Social Media on the Academic Performance of Students", Schools that qualify to the second round of the debate will meet on Wednesday March, 22 with the topic "The need For Ebira Cultural Renaissance" and the grand finale of the competitions will be coming up on April, 08 (tentative) where those that are able to qualify from the second round of the debate will be meeting on the third round with the topic "The Urgent Need to curb the rising Drug Abuse Amongst Youths"
The winners of Spelling Bee, quiz and debating competition will also be awarded handsomely on the grand finale.
This is a programme you can't afford to miss a bit. The union therefore reiterated her pledge mantra; to revive academic standards, to instil the spirit of academic excellence in the minds of students and to unravel the untapped ingenuities in the average students she represents.
