Two Killed In Kogi As JTF And Armed Robbers Engage In Gun Battle
Two persons suspected to be armed robbers have been killed in Kogi State during a gun battle with Joint Task Force, JTF, on Tuesday morning in Ajaka Igalamela/Odolu local government area of Kogi State.
The JTF who acted on security information waylaid the criminals who engaged them in gun battle upon sighting them which led to the death of two members of the robbery gang.
Disclosing this to newsmen, the
Senior Special Assistant on security to Governor Yahaya Bello in Igalamela/Odolu local government, Hon. Onoja James Omachonu said, two members of the robbery gang have been confirmed dead after the gun battle while six others are currently on the run with gunshot wounds.
According to him, assorted weapons and money were recovered from the scene of the gun battle, adding that the bodies of the armed robbers had been taken to police station in Ajaka.
Hon. Omachonu disclosed further that the armed robbers carried out a Robert operation in Ajaka around 3:00am on Tuesday and upon getting the information of their activities the JTF intercepted them on their way out of the local government.
He noted that investigation is currently ongoing to arrest other members of the gang, advising the members of the public to collaborate with the security officials to wipe out all criminal elements in the local government.
