Fear Of Another Percentage Salaries Grip Kogi Workers As State Allocation Drops By 30%

There is palpable fear within the Kogi State workers over another possible percentage salaries as the state allocation from Federal Governments dropped by 30%.

The 30% drop in the state allocation from Federal Government in April caused panic among the Kogi State civil servants that were in loggerhead with the state government through last month over the percentage salaries they received.

The implication of the 30% drop in the allocation of Kogi State means that the civil servant will not just recieve percentage salaries this month but something lower than the percentage they received last month.

Recall that last month the civil servants in the state payroll were paid 80%, while Teachers were paid 40% and Local Government workers received  35% respectively.

On the same vein, Pensioners were also paid 80%.
With the 30% drop in the current allocation of the state, the civil servants are currently gripped with fear over the possibility of  another slash in their salaries.

Disclosing the current drop in the state allocation, the state Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Idris Asiwaju, said the state net statutory allocation for the month of April is N1,736,231,350.68.

According to him, the value added tax( VAT) and exchange gain for the month of April is N938,018,569.93 and N186,683,266.69 respectively.

He added that the state gross statutory revenue income for the month of April is N2,860,933,186.62 compared to N4,078,691,569.91 for the month of March.

On the same vein, the 21 local government areas in the state after the value added tax and Exchange gain for the month of April received gross statutory revenue of N2,300,817,800.19.

The Commissioner, however, added that it is clear the allocation accrued to Kogi State is in gross deficit and state fiances and responsibility to her citizens will be badly affected by the 30% drop.
