The Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan was unexpectedly denied access to the Palace of late Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM, Dr. Ado Ibrahim during her condolence visit to families of the late Monarch on Saturday.   The Senator and her entourage were denied access to the popular Azad palace of the late paramount ruler and prevented from paying her last respects to the late Monarch.  Addressing the crowd outside the palace, Senator Natasha said, she came to show her appreciation to the late Monarch for the love and support shown to her when he was alive.  "Our father was a pillar to our senatorial victory and I enjoyed this privilege support from the time of the Ajaokuta steel advocacy because the development of Ebiraland was all his concern. Shortly after her swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Barr. Natasha  Akpoti-Uduaghan contributed on the motion sponsored by Senator Osita Ngwu representing Enugu West.  Senator Osita sponsored a motion to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the dwindling revenue desirable from solid mineral development in the country.  "Ascertain the extent and impact of illegal mining activities and the extent of complicity of both local and expatriate industry players", amongst others.  While contributing to the motion, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan called on the Senate to consider policies to curb environment degradation, host communities involvement and advanced seismic reports.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has administered the oath of office on Barr. Natasha Akpoti -Uduaghan as the Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district in the 10th National Assembly. The swearing-in took place in the Senate chamber on Thursday. The ceremony follows the recent declaration by the Appeal Court which declared Natasha as the duly elected Senator for Kogi Central senatorial district, affirming the tribunal's earlier judgment. Speaking shortly after she was sworn in by the Senate President, Senator Natasha expressed her commitment to bring positive change and be a strong voice for the good people of Kogi Central senatorial district.

Senator Natasha H Akpoti-Uduaghan on Wednesday received certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.  The electoral umpire issued the certificate of return to Natasha following her declaration by the Appeal Court on Tuesday as the duly elected Senator of Kogi Central senatorial District. The appellate court in its ruling upheld the earlier judgment of the Tribunal which declared the PDP candidate as the authentic senator of Kogi Central with lawful votes of 54,354 while Ohere APC scored 51,291 votes.  Speaking shortly after obtaining her certificate of return, Senator Natasha promised to fulfill her campaign promises and be a strong voice for her people in the Senate.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has affirmed Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the duly elected Senator of Kogi Central senatorial district.  The appellate court upheld the earlier ruling of the Tribunal which declared Natasha as the winner of the February 25, 2023 Kogi Central senatorial election.  The Appeal Court in its ruling held that the Tribunal was right in its judgment, adding that the results of the Polling units in Ganaja Ward were unlawfully and deliberated omitted from the collation of results when INEC is duty bound to accept such results.  The appellate court further stressed that the petitioners failed to tender any other result to challenge the results tendered by the appellants.   "No evidence was adduced to justify the claim of overcoming in the polling units. Chief Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan mourns the passing of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, who passed on at the age of 94. Chief Natasha extends her condolences to the immediate family of the late King, the entire Ebira Kingdom, Kogi State, and Nigeria as a whole, expressing that the Ohinoyi was a symbol of hope, wisdom, and courage until his passing. She considers the loss of the Ohinoyi a personal one for herself and her family, emphasizing that he had been a source of strength and encouragement in her mission to change the narrative. While offering prayers for the repose of the King's soul, she finds solace in the knowledge that the late King lived a fulfilling life, and his exemplary life will continue to inspire those who are still living. The late Dr. Ado Ibrahim ascended to the throne of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland on June 2, 1997, and reigned for 26 years.

The 2023 Kogi Central senatorial election was an opportunity for the people of Kogi Central to send a strong message and correct the wrongs. The people decided to elect someone who will represent their interests and speak for them in the Senate for another four years. Ahead of Court of Appeal ruling to decide the authentic winner of Kogi Central senatorial election, available reports showed Governor Yahaya Bello has dragged Kogi first class chiefs to lobby President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to influence the ruling and stops Barr.
