Ramadan: Olafemi Begs Kogi Govt to Pay Workers

Yakubu Gowon

Engr Folorunsho Olafemi, a philanthropist, has admonished politicians in Kogi state to show sympathy to the state and local government workers by mitigating the current hardship they are going through occasioned by the non-payment of over 36-37 months of their salaries.

Folorunsho, in his early Ramadan message to the people of Kogi state, said the Holy month is a season of multiplied blessing‎s to those who provide assistance to his fellow brothers and sisters.

The statement, which was delivered to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday by Engr. Folorunsho’s father, Rt Hon Clarence Olafemi, said the state and local government civil servants are practically in need of relief ‎as they have unarguably become ‘Internally Dehumanised People’ (IDP) in their own state.

He equally urged the state government to tread the path of reasoning and pay the state workers their entitlement, the local over head and off course the state legislators allowance adding that the continuous hardship meted on the workers is totally against God and humanity. ‎‎

According to him, workers in the state celebrated last year’s Ramadan fasting, eid-fitr/Kabir, Christmas and New year in penury. He ‎appealed to the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello not to repeat such bitter gesture on the  workers this year even when the fasting period is here.

Folorunsho, however, urged the people of the state, particularly the Kogi Sate House of Assembly members, state and local government civil servants, to use this holy month of Ramadan to pray so that God will change the heart of the state led APC government so they can pay their salary and allowances accordingly.
