2019 Senate: Youths Must Learn From History Before We Become The History Others Will Learn From | By Ogo’ogu MD

It was Barr. Natasha H. Akpoti who in deep wisdom said to me; “Ogo’ogu, I am not in the race to waste, destroy and to kill but to consolidate, innovate and usher in an opportunity for the benefit of my people who long have been thirsty and hungry for enduring society where peace, unity and justice and good governance reign and to make known to my people that their pain is my pain and their joy is my joy.”

Martin Luther King, Jr wrote and I quote; “The hottest place in Hell is reserved for those who remain neutral in times of great moral conflict.”

Ladies and gentlemen, I am not trained to remain silent or neutral when the truth is obvious, the senate is a series I started recently and for the purpose of throwing more light in our political setting especially calling the electorate and the elect to wake up to their responsibility as citizens and leaders instead of bastardizing the principle of democracy at the expense of the masses and for the gain of selected few.

My Father told me many years when I was struggling to be a man using every energy and opportunity and he said to me, “Mark…it is the duty of youth to challenge corruption, bad governance immorality and injustice in the society than to be part of the problem bringing shame and reproach to the society that produce us…”

No wonder Jay Griffiths said and I quote; “Being adequately informed is a democratic duty, just as the vote is a democratic right. A misinformed electorate, voting without knowledge, is not a true democracy.”

My assignment today is to focus on the electorate who are always an instrument in the hand of leaders either good or bad, depend on the leader’s ideology. Ladies and gentlemen, great youths of Kogi central, spare a piece of your time to read with me as I speak on a subject title above.

We are losing sight of civility in government and politics. Debate and dialogue is being relegated in favour of destructive politicking marred with thuggery, nepotism, intimidation and other social vices that are antithetical to societal development. Dogma has replaced thoughtful discussion between people of differing views, skills and intellection. We have more arrogant leaders leading the best of us and our society is in danger.

Democracy is a daring concept – a hope that we’ll be best governed if all of us participate in the act of government. It is meant to be a conversation, a place where the intelligence and local knowledge of the electorate sums together to arrive at actions that reflect the participation of the largest possible number of people.

We are in the era of politics of ideas, skills and talent, only those who understand the change concept can truly have an answer to the problem that seems to be a threat to our society.

One of the reasons people hate politics is that truth is rarely a politician’s objective. Election,  power and wealth are. But the truth I tell you, there will be no good governance outside of truth whenever truth is in power democracy, good governance become real to the people without much noise on social media.

Once upon a time, politics is like war, father against son and son against father, killing and destruction of property. i am voicing out again calling the elders if they have not compromised their elder-ship right because the body language and the dancing step of this present leadership is directly proportional to the rhythm of a compromised leader, and for this reason i consider it as a duty to call on our gallant youths to eschew politics of bitterness and embrace brotherhood while exercising their constitutional franchise.

Bad politicians are sent to power by good people especially the youths who don’t vote but brainwashed and equipped with violent tools to cause disorder in the society just to pave way for their unskillful and scandalous leaders.

Let us not seek  solution to our problem through crisis and violence or should we violate the principle of democracy just because of the peanut given to us, but the right answer, by voting the right candidate, the most competent, and the most credible.

It is time to accept responsibility for the future by allowing peace to reign in this coming 2019 election and beyond. It was Abraham Lincoln who said, “Remember The ballot is stronger than the bullet.”
A Politician sits in his office, his children are feeding well, attending the best of schools using the best cars and all you are only good and fit for killing and destroying billboards…Brain Check Up You Need.

There is a fountain in youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated self limitation, and value your life instead of being fed with politicians whose ambition is to use you for gain and dump you later. Youths Check Your Brain If Is Still Working.

Your community is left uncatered for, all road that link to your community have been left and abandoned yet you made yourself available to be used as thug terrorizing the people and abusing their constitutionally guaranteed human right… Check Your Brain.

Any leader that does not impact the society, renovate or create new things,  does not worth dying for… Check Your Brain.

We truly do not need more politicians because they have been a curse to the society than good. Art, freedom and creativity will change society faster than politics… Think About This.

A leader who pays you token to harass, destroy other people's properties, billboard will eventually turn against you when the dust is settled…I pray you learn from the history before you become the history others will learn from.

I understand we have evil leaders championing our dear local governments across the state, they disguised themselves as religious faithfuls yet wicked and terror. they preach peace with their lips but their heart and cat is far from peace, they give you token and rob you of your destiny…who bewitched you my dear brothers and sisters? How come you forget so soon the history of thuggery in our land? where is Awella? Where is Lukman (the commander)? to mention few, Where are those thugs that were terrorizing the society few years ago? I see greatness in you stop devaluing yourselves.

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls old and young, we must not allow our selfish interest swallow public interest… fear must be send packing and replace with faith. Plato read and I quote, "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors."

The solution to the political crisis in Kogi state may be complex, but that does not mean we should abandon our humanity, the vulnerable, the poor and the masses who entrust us with this mandate, we should not close our hearts, retreat behind walls, real or imagined, or ignored the pressing moral imperative to provide assistance, restoring hope for the hopeless, given life(s) a meaning for this is democracy in action.

Any politics that does not gives life(s), liberate humanity and the society, usher in opportunity for our talented youths in various field or skills, promote peace or unity, supporting good governance is a waste of time.

Ladies and gentlemen, Barr Natasha H Aporti stand for Innovation and Liberation, preaching good governance all her life, a vessel of peace and unity in central, Kogi State and Nigeria at large. A soul made ready for such a time as this…Woman, Ogo’ogu MD is indeed proud of you.

Our Constituency will never remain the same again having Natasha H Akpoti as our representative in Red Chamber….Vote Natasha, Vote SDP.
