The chairman of the occasion, the lady chairperson, the father of the day, the mother of the day,  special guests of honour,  representatives of Ihima Welfare Association, chief launcher, co-launchers, representatives of Ihima Elites Initiative, guests of honour, my fellow students, distinguished ladies and gentlemen.

All praises and honour are to Almighty Allah for His infinite mercy, guardian and wisdom given me throughout my tenure as the National President of Ihima Students' Union (ISU), to pilot her affairs. I glorify Him for giving me the strength and the needed people that saw the need to promote education in Ihima.

Comrade Isah Amoto Bala

It has always been my innate desire to contribute my quota to societal development, I am pleased ISU gave me that opportunity and we tried to utilize it as much as we can to imprint our feet on the sand of time. Though it was quite challenging, but with the grace of God, zeal and proactive approach we were able to contribute our quota to what we met on ground.

This administration came on board on 3rd January 2017 and since then we've hit the ground running to contribute our quota to what we met on ground and even strive to supase what we met because the greatest effort of every successive administration is to do more than what it met on ground and the chain continues which will invariably usher in healthy developmental competition.

It is not a gainsay that Ihima Students' Union has no regular source of fund and mobility but we never allow it to weigh us down. We took up the challenge and think of a way we can turn things around instead of blame game because we have already known that leadership comes with challenges and sacrifice as Vince Lombard of the blessed memory succinctly put "...Leaders are made by efforts, which is the price all of us must made to achieve any goal that is worthwhile. "

After we assumed the mantle of leadership of this great union, our first target was to open an account for the union, we took painstaking efforts and at the end I am pleased to place it on records that ISU now has an account with United Bank of Africa (UBA) through which all our transactions from March to this moment were done. We all also saw the need to buy mobile phone for the union through which the union's phone number will be active for official transactons. We took it upon ourselves to embark on career talk through out the secondary schools in Ihima and we were able to touch the lives of our students.

We did not stop at this, as we offered ourselves in careful selection of not less than 35 less privileged pupils for a shorlaship programme and organised Spelling Bee for Primary Schools, Quiz and Debating competitions for Secondary Schools in Ihima sponsored by an ISU product, the Director General Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation, Mr. Abdulmalik Abduokarim, the grand finale which was covered by mainstream media houses across the state and country.

It would be recalled that during our inauguration on 3rd January, we swore to bring in innovation in our educational programmes and with the support and cooperation of our members, we have been able to introduce ISU Weekly Quiz which we hold every Friday and we award the winners with airtime sufficient for weekly routine, we also introduced Saturday programme (Did You Know) where we Acquaint ourselves with historical events in Ebiraland, and a Sunday programme (Education Talk) through which we give out educative topics to guest lecturers for discussion. We hold all these programmes through our Whatsapp group where our members from different higher institutions of learning can participate.

Despite all these achievements, we have some challenges that have impeded our pace.
We did all we could to make Ihima Students' Union mobile, because we believe it's an outright disdain for a union that has been in existence since 1959 not to have a bus of her own. I captured this along side the need to start the construction of Ihima library whose land is lying untouched at the adjacent of Ihima magistrate court in my speech delivered at the grand finale of our 2017 spelling bee, quiz and debating competitions held on 29th July, 2017.
The representative of the governor at the occasion; the commissioner for water resources
Barrister Salami Momodu Ozigi Deedat promised to make ISU mobile and also promised to forward our demand for Ihima library to his excellency governor Yahaya Bello whom he represented. We have tried till this moment for this to come to past, but our efforts never yield any positive result.
We also tired to create source of income for the union by establishing business center, unfortunately, this never come to fruition.

I hope the incoming administration will sustain the aforementioned innovations and achievements and work towards achieving the areas left unachieved.

I appreciate my dearest mother for her support, patience and advise on the course of this struggle, and to my late father, my your gently soul gently to rest in peace, your fruit is still yielding.

My appreciation also goes to the Director General Kogi State Bureau of Information Services and Grassroots Sensitisation,Mr. Abdulmalik Abdulkarim, who solely sponsored all our completions and scholarship programmes. May Allah replenish your pocket in manifolds.

My heartfelt appreciation also goes to Hon. (Dr.) Idris Jimoh Jolly,  Hon. Mario, Mrs. Onusi Samira Oyiza, Comrade Tijani Usman Ozienewo, Comrade A. E. Bishop, Comrade Lamisi Enesi Hamza, Comrade Mathew Samuel, Comrade Yusuf Haruna and all those whose advice and support led us this far. We are grateful to you all.

To the man my I prefer to call father, Alhaji Salihu O. Umar who served as the Chairman of the occasion, the little assistance you rendered to a frustrated boy in 2011 metamorphosed into what we are witnessing today. May Allah empower you to do more and reward your humanitarian service in manifolds.

To my selfless executives who dedicated their times and commitment to see the success of this administration, may Allah reward you all and continue to make us good ambassadors of our dear land.

Thanks
Comrade Isah Amoto Bala, National Executive President
