We can Create Jobs On Our Own, NYSC Abuja Cordinator Said as SAED Training Kicks Off

The Abuja state cordinator of NYSC, Mallam B.B. Balama has said Nigerian graduates can creates jobs on their own if they make best use of the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship  Development, SAED, during their orientation programme instead of waiting for white collar job.


Mallam Balama made this known when the SAED committee stop over for his fatherly advise during the awareness tour as part of the activities for the opening ceremony of the skill acquisition programme.

While appraising the Director General of NYSC, Brig. Gen. Sule Zakari Kazaure for the opportunity giving to Corp members to be employers of labour, he thanked the Camp Director, Mrs. Joy Haruna and the director of SAED, Mrs. Hauwa Kwajafa for their efforts in coordinating the skill acquisition programme.

On her remark, the Camp Director, Mrs. Joy Haruna said every corp member who has decided to join the skill acquisition programme has taken the right step, assuring the corp Memebers that the management of FCT NYSC orientation camp will give them the necceaary support to train them as employers of labour.

She said, it has been seen that after service, a lot of corp memebers are thrown into labour market, the reason she said the NYSC introduced the programme to train Corp members in entrepreneurship in 2012.

On behalf of the coordinator, the camp director declared the skill acquisition programme open for the batch C stream one Corp members deployed to Abuja orientation camp.

The director of SAED, Mrs. Hauwa Kwajafa disclosed that the programme is in partnership with bank of industry, Central Bank, NAFDAC, CAC, airetel  and Access bank plc.

According to her, the organisations will be available on Thursday to teach the Corp members on how to secure bank loan for their business start-up, she added that the training will commence fully on Wednesday.

Highlight of the opening programme of the skill acquisition programme include Song and drama by SAEED committee members, testimonies by trained Corp members, and lectures.

Skills to be taught include, Photography, video editing, graphic designing, cinematography, solar installation.

Others are, catering, make-up, Gele training, CCTV installation, aluminum and doors installation, bid making, bag and shoe making, cosmetology, hair making, food processing and preservation, fashion designing, and IT training.
