ISU 2018 Competitions: Holy Flock, Sky Comprehensive, Focus Academy, MASWAJ, Others Emerge Victorious

The 2018 competition of Ihima Students' Union, ISU, may have come and gone but the euphoric nature of the programme will live with the students and the pupils who were engaged in intellectual discourse.

The educational programme featured quiz competition for all secondary schools in Ihima and spelling bee for primary school pupils.

After a keenly contested competition, Holy Flock of Christ Secondary School Obeiba Ihima emerged the winner of the 2018 edition of the union's quiz competition, while Sky Comprehensive College Oboroke Ihima emerged the runner up and Future Ray Secondary School Obeiba took the third position.

On the primary school category, Focus Academy Nursery and Primary School Obeiba Ihima became the champion of the union's 2018 spelling bee, Marqaz Ahalilsuna Waljama Nursery and Primary School Ogidi Ihima became the runner up while Holy Flock Nursery and Primary School took the third position.

In his speech, the National President of the Union, Comrade Onivehu Musa Habeeb pointed out that despite the financial challenges of the union and lack of sponsorship of her academic programmes, the leadership of the union has made it a point of duty to consolidate on the foundation of the union and promote the standard of education in Ihima.

According to him,  there must be a winner and a loser in every competition, advising the students to brace up in their academic pursuit and step-up their game in subsequent edition.

"Champions are not those who never fail, they are those who have failed but refused to be called a failure and rise up again. I want you all to see this as a challenge, as means to be more committed to your studies and be determined for victory in subsequent edition.

"You have a brighter future ahead of you, this is the best moment to define that which you want to become and your today's efforts will lead you to your desired place. You are all winners, and I want you to go back home with a zeal to be successful and work hard towards it", he said.

On his own speech, the immediate past President of the union, Comrade Isah Amoto Bala pointed out that being successful in life means that one must encounter failure but the determination to be successful will make one to rather see the failure as a means to put more efforts rather than giving up the chase, advising the students to make use of their time judiciouly to attain their goal.
