Kogi Govt Restricts Tankers, Trucks On Ganaja-Ajaokuta Road
The Kogi state government has pronounced restriction of trucks, tankers and other articulated vehicles on Ganaja-Ajaokuta road in the state.
The state commissioner for transport, Baron Joseph Okwoli, made this known in Lokoja on Monday. He said the step was to curb road mishaps and reduce traffic congestion.
“Following the on going repair works on Ganaja Junction to Ganaja Village road and the attendant hardship being experienced by road users and the general public, there is need to ease the traffic on the road.
“It has therefore become imperative to bring to the notice of the tanker and truck operators that movement of their vehicles to Lokoja town through Ajaokuta-Ganaja route be restricted to commence from 9:00pm to 6:00am with effect from Wednesday 20th November, 2020.
“All the stakeholders in the road transportation especially, the Nigerian Road Transport Workers Union, tanker and truck operators, Dangote Cement Company are to take note,” he said.
The commissioner warned that the Ministry of Transportation will not hesitate to invoke the appropriate sections of KOTHRAMA Law to enforce the notification against erring tanker and truck operators.
“The Nigerian Police, Federal Road Safety Corp, KOTHRAMA, the Vehicle Inspection Office and other security agencies have been put on alert to monitor and ensure strict compliance accordingly.”
