PDP Celebrates First Deputy Governor Of Kogi State, Chief Samuel Akande @ 81

Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State chapter, has described the first Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Samuel Ola Akande as a disciplined and selfless elder statesman.

In a statement signed issued by the party’s Director of Research and Documentation, Dickson Achadu, in Lokoja on Tuesday, PDP noted that former number two man in the state has continued to defy his age, at 81 years, with continued service to humanity.

The PDP described the octogenarian as a politician of noble character and a beacon of hope to the younger generation. Achadu stated that the PDP looks up to him and draws strength from his words of inspiration.

Chief Samuel Ola Akande ran together with late Prince Abubakar Audu under the platform of defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) in the 1992 governorship election in the state.

The pair of Late Audu and Akande defeated the candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to emerge first executive governor and deputy governor, respectively.

Their reign in Lugard House was abruptly truncated less than two years in office by the former Head of State, General Sani Abacha
