Senator Natasha, Other Northern Senators Call for Release of President Bazoum, End ECOWAS Restrictions on Niger
The Senator Representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha H Akpoti -Uduaghan and other Northern Senators under the aegis of the Northern Senators' Forum on Tuesday condemned the spate of military intervention in the West African sub-region. The Northern Senators' Forum under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Ningi condemned in strong terms the spate of military intervention in the democratic space of West Africa. The Northern Senators also condemned the recent coup in Niger Republic, calling on the military juntas to obey the demand of ECOWAS by releasing President Mohammed Bazoum and his immediate family members. They further asked the military junta in Niger to bring a transition timetable that will last not more than two years period and called on ECOWAS to lift the restrictions on the Niger Republic in the interest of business and border communities.
