Gov. Bello Walks Out Kogi Chief Judge From State Function

The Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello on Tuesday walked out the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah from a function.



The incident occurred at Government House Lokoja during the swearing in of new Grand Gadi of the state.

The function was attended by top government officials and others from the Judiciary.

The Chief Judge who was officially invited by the protocol officer of government house was seated before the arrival of the governor.

However, some minutes later before the arrival of the governor, the Chief Security Officer to the governor approached the Chief Judge and informed him that the governor gave a directive that he should not be allowed to attend the function.

The Chief Judge, Justice Nasiru Ajanah then left government house back to his office to avoid any problem.

Meanwhile, after calling off strike, Kogi Judiciary is yet to get salary.

The Face-off between the Executive and the Judiciary lingers on as the Subvention/salary has not been paid to date.
Consequently , the Elders’ met with the Secretary to Kogi State Government, (SSG) Dr. Mrs Folashade Arike on Monday for further dialogue.

According to the elders, it was agreed that government will pay salaries for 5 months by cheque during the Biometric Data Capturing.

But the JUSUN is demanding for one month salary before the data capturing.

“We agreed with JUSUN and requesting the government to pay the one month subvention so that data capturing could proceed accordingly.

However, the SSG stated that she had no mandate for one month payment of subvention before data capturing, except the Governor. The Governor is a way in Abuja and he is expected back on Tuesday.

The SSG is to book appointment for the Elders’ with the Governor to enable them impress on him to pay one month subvention to enable them prepare for biometric data capturing for the balance salary.
