ULC Condemns ‘Habitual Neglect’ Of Kogi Workers, Pensioners

Chairman, Kogi state council of the United Labour Congress (ULC), Comrade Opaluwa Eleojo Simeon has called on the state government to change its attitude towards civil servants and pensioners.

In a press statement issued on Wednesday, Opaluwa condemned the “habitual neglect and in-human treatment been meted out on workers and pensioners by the Kogi state government through the non-payment, micro percentage payment of salary, pension and gratuity.”

He decried growing cases of untimely deaths among civil servants who could not afford proper medical care due to financial challenges occasioned by non-payment of salary.

“We are in solidarity with our colleagues, in the state and local government, who have been turned to ‘beggars’ in their own land.

“We join the other labour centres in the state in calling on President Muhammadu Buhari to call the state government to order and without further delay, pay the workers and pensioners their entitlements as live is becoming very unbearable for the workers and pensioners.
