Barr. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti

The philanthropist who was moved by her penchant for education, the need for an average Nigerian to have education and to demonstrate the lesson taught by her father decided to adopt 600 pupils' tuition fees in 2016 among whom are 278 orphans in commemoration of her late father, Dr. Jimoh Abdul Akpoti who died on 3rd November, 1998.

Speaking at the occasion of the adoption of the 600 pupils' education in 2016 in her lecture  titled, "Lessons from my father",  Natasha enjoined parents as well as the pupils and students to harness their talents properly as she placed much premium on talents than academic qualifications.

The Kogi Central SDP senatorial candidate has been in charge of the the welfare of the 600 pupils in the last three years, paying their school fees, providing  school bags, clothes, sandals and opened a mini library and set of desktop computer totalling 22 at the Builders Hub Community Learning Resource Center where the children are being trained.

Narrating his experience, the team leader of the volunteer youth, Haruna Bashir said, It took him sometimes before he could comport himself when an orphan pupil who has lost both parents stood in front of him for his data verification.

"I shed tears without knowing it, as I asked him about his parents, he said they are dead and presently living with his aged grandmother.

"I don't know when I shed tears, but I assured him that we will pay his school fee and Barrister Natasha Hadiza Akpoti will be his mother, " he said.

Appreciating the humanitarian service of Natasha, the Administrative Headmaster of Central Primary school Obeiba, Mall. Momohjimoh Sheidu said, "this is the first time an individual will single-handedly take charge of the tuition fees of 600 children, providing school bags, clothes, sandals and other things for them every year, the parent are happy and they have been praying for God to protect her and empower her to do more.

According to him, the teachers in their own little way have been in support of the laudable programme by providing the pupils for their data verification every year.

While taking a clue from Ebira adage, he said, "one is not rich until one can count the number of people one has helped to realise their potentials, adding that Ebira can testify to the godly path Barrister Natasha Hadiza Akpoti has chosen to tread with the little at her disposal.

"Our people should learn from this godly way Barrister Natasha Hadiza Akpoti has chosen to give back to the society, it is not until one gives millions of naira before one will be able to make an impact but the little we give can go a long way to give hope to the hopeless.

"Some of the children have lost their both parents, if not for Barr. Natasha, some of them wouldn't have been able to pay the school fees. Many of them have stopped coming to school because they couldn't pay their school fees, but we will send for them to inform them that their mother has settled their school fees, " he said.
