The Danger Ahead Kogi Local Government Election,The Needs to Avoid Litigation | Concern Kogi Citizen
The concern Kogi Citizen has raised an alarm as the State local government election draw near in few days.
The concern citizens raised the danger and the litigation ahead the local government election if the proper things is not done before the election.
The group said, the failure of the state government to fill the necessary vacant positions in the composition of the State Independent Electoral Commission( SIEC) membership will pose a great threat, danger and litigation after the poll
The group stress that it's a gross violation of the edicts that established the commission and the Electoral body ( KOSIEC) will lack the legal right to conduct the forthcoming October 19th local government election if the vacant positions in the commission inline with it's legal establishment is not filled
It is surprising that the KOSIEC up till now, has no substantive Secretary by law to direct the affairs of the Commission. The KOSIEC should as a statutory Commission always had it's Secretary in the function of a permanent Secretary particularly from the civil Service. It is also Worthy of note that a whole federal constituency has been excluded in the scheme of things, especially as concern Member, representing Okehi/Adavi federal Constituency.
These very important positions should be filled immediately to create room for viability, transparency, equitable representation among the federal Constituencies and credibility of the election in the upcoming October 19th fixed for the election and to avoid litigation after the poll
We call the attention of His Excellency,Alh Usman Ahmed Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State and all other critical stakeholders to save the ongoing electoral process from litigation by filling the vacant positions in the state electoral commission before the election
