10 Years After Accepting Islam, See How Loon of “I Need A Girl” Has Transformed

While many people are born Muslims and raised as a Muslim, there are other people who accepted Islam in their later years in life when they reach adult.


 Many of these people who accepted Islam in their adulthood are known celebrities and entertainers who once held sway in the world entertainment industry. 

One such people is Loon who is known for his hit song, “I Need A Girl” which held sways in early 200s.

Born, Chauncey Lamont Hawkins on June 20, 1975, he is known by his stage name, Loon, whicjnwas once a household name in many parts of the world. 

Loon who was an American rapper and songwriter made his entrance into the music industry in 1996. He was formerly signed by the famous musician,  P. Diddy into his record label called Badly Boy. 

Loon was in action from 1996 until he surprisingly announce his decision to quit music in 2009 and announced that he has accepted Islam.

Loon who was at the top of his career in the music industry was a role model to many upcoming musicians across the world. His decision to quit music and his eventual decision to accept Islam was a thing thousands of his followers and fans never envisaged. 

After he accepted Islam in December 2008, Loon changed his name to Amir Junaid Muhadith when he traveled to Mecca to perform Umrah, Islamic lesser Hajj where he started his journey to become a knowledgeable person in Islam. 

Unfortunately, Loon was arrested in November 22, 2011, two years after accepting Islam. He was then sentenced to 14-years jail term in US federal prison on July 2013. After spending nine years in prison, Loon's prison term was reduced and released on July 29, 2020 as a result of the effects on COVID-19 pandemic in prison centres. 

Since he regained his freedom, he has already reunited with his family and love ones and participating in Islamic programmes.
