Kogi Govt Vs ASUU: 150 Lecturers Sacked
No fewer than 150 lecturers in Kogi State University Anyigba have been reportedly sacked by the state government for their refusal to obey the proscription order placed on ASUU in the school by the state governor government.
Ebira reporters reports that the sacked lecturers who began to receive their letters of dismissal from Monday 14th, refused to sign the register placed in various faculties by the management to indicate resumption of work.
The report added that, "about 48 lecturers were affected in the Faculty of Natural Sciences, where the ASUU Chairman, Dr Daniel Aina lectures.
"According to a source at the Bursary Department who spoke on the conditions of anonymity, the affected lecturers have been removed from the July salary schedule that will soon be forwarded to Lokoja for payment.
"The state university just resumed from 7 months old strike, a resumption considered to be partly as some lecturers loyal to ASUU were bent on ensuring the state governor, Alh Yahaya Bello reverts his proscription on the union.
"They also wanted the newly constituted Heads of Departments replaced with the predecessors 'unjustly removed by the management.' " The. report concluded.
