This year designs is inspired by 'IREHU IRUVU' (WOODEN  STOOL).

Irehu Iruvu is most respected among Ebira Traditional Heritage especially during Ebira Traditional Marriage, it's importance can not be overemphasized.

What is Irehu Iruvo ?

Irehu Iruvo is an Ebira People’s traditional sitting stool, mostly popular among women. Some concluded that the ones with cowrie tied around it, in a true sense is no ordinary stool again, it has been fortified, while some said the cowrie is a sign of wealth and blessings.

It’s said that if a woman in her matrimonial home cannot conceive male child or maybe she’s a barren. such woman may be asked to sit on her Irehu Iruvo and seek for God's blessing on her marriage.

Irehu Iruvo is often a gift given to newly married woman by her mother mostly grandmother’s or the husband as a symbol of love from the husband to signify that for better for worse they will forever be happily married and that she will bare him children in good health. And from the mother or grandmother it signifies permanent sit with the cowrie (Uto) signifying wealth.

It's so important that in most homes, they do not conduct the traditional wedding without it because it is believed to be the bride's weapon in her husband's house ( I mean, no any woman or man will be able to move her from her husband's house). She's advised to seat on it most times to seek for blessings and fruit of the womb from the Almighty.

In addition,  irehu iruvo means two different things. Apart from the physical stool we all know, irehu iruvo mean  having a male child in a husband house. You could see some women having female children but still not happy and kept on lamenting that she has no 'Irehu iruvo' in that house because she can not talk authoritatively.

After much research about its values and importance, it is important for us to preserve such tradition which has been passed down from Generation to Generation.
