Senator Natasha, Other Northern Senators Call for Release of President Bazoum, End ECOWAS Restrictions on Niger

The Senator Representing Kogi Central senatorial district, Senator Natasha H Akpoti -Uduaghan and other Northern Senators under the aegis of the Northern Senators' Forum on Tuesday condemned the spate of military intervention in the West African sub-region.  The Northern Senators' Forum under the leadership of Senator Ahmed Ningi condemned in strong terms the spate of military intervention in the democratic space of West Africa.  The Northern Senators also condemned the recent coup in Niger Republic, calling on the military juntas to obey the demand of ECOWAS by releasing President Mohammed Bazoum and his immediate family members.   They further asked the military junta in Niger to bring a transition timetable that will last not more than two years period and called on ECOWAS to lift the restrictions on the Niger Republic in the interest of business and border communities.  The Senators believed that innocent civilians should not be allowed to suffer because of ...

Akpabio Names Natasha Local Content Committee Chairman, Rejigs Other Committees

Shortly after her swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, Barr. Natasha  Akpoti-Uduaghan contributed on the motion sponsored by Senator Osita Ngwu representing Enugu West.  Senator Osita sponsored a motion to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the dwindling revenue desirable from solid mineral development in the country.  "Ascertain the extent and impact of illegal mining activities and the extent of complicity of both local and expatriate industry players", amongst others.  While contributing to the motion, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan called on the Senate to consider policies to curb environment degradation, host communities involvement and advanced seismic reports.

Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, has administered the oath of office on Barr. Natasha Akpoti -Uduaghan as the Senator representing Kogi Central senatorial district in the 10th National Assembly. The swearing-in took place in the Senate chamber on Thursday. The ceremony follows the recent declaration by the Appeal Court which declared Natasha as the duly elected Senator for Kogi Central senatorial district, affirming the tribunal's earlier judgment. Speaking shortly after she was sworn in by the Senate President, Senator Natasha expressed her commitment to bring positive change and be a strong voice for the good people of Kogi Central senatorial district.

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan receives Certificate of Return

Senator Natasha H Akpoti-Uduaghan on Wednesday received certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District.  The electoral umpire issued the certificate of return to Natasha following her declaration by the Appeal Court on Tuesday as the duly elected Senator of Kogi Central senatorial District. The appellate court in its ruling upheld the earlier judgment of the Tribunal which declared the PDP candidate as the authentic senator of Kogi Central with lawful votes of 54,354 while Ohere APC scored 51,291 votes.  Speaking shortly after obtaining her certificate of return, Senator Natasha promised to fulfill her campaign promises and be a strong voice for her people in the Senate.
