LG Polls: Abdulrazaq Emerge APC Candidate In Okene As KOSIEC Receives Primary Election Results

Former Administrator of Okene local government, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad, on Friday, emerged as the chairmanship candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) for the December 12 council elections.



Three hundred and twenty four party executives from the eleven wards of the council converged at St. Andrew Primary School in Okene to affirm the candidature of Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad on a consensus arrangement. 

 The party returning officer, Alh. Idris Shaibu who had earlier conducted the ward councilorship primary elections presented Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad to the party executives as the only aspirant and they unanimously affirmed him as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming local government election. 

The exercise was witnessed by the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) Commissioner in charge of Okene/Ogori Magongo Constituency, Hon. Yakubu Chogudo, security agencies and party stakeholders. 

Meanwhile, KOSIEC Commissioner, Alh. Chogudo, on Thursday, monitored the councilorship primary elections of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in local governments within Okene/Ogori-Magongo federal constituency.  

He confirmed that PDP primary elections were peaceful and transparent. The results of the primary elections for Okene and Ogori-Magongo local government areas were handed over to the electoral officers. 

Chogudu urged the winners of the PDP councilorship primaries to continue to adhere to the guidelines stipulated by KOSIEC and ensure that peace and tranquility are maintained throughout the campaigns and elections.  

He assured the contestants and stakeholders of the party of the readiness and willingness of KOSIEC to conduct free, fair and credible election on the 12th of December, 2020 in all the local government areas in the state. 

KOSIEC Commissioner received results of All Progressives Congress (APC) primary elections held in the two local government areas of the federal constituency. 

He praised the KOSIEC electoral officers for diligent monitoring of the primary elections and urged them to sustain their commitment as the commission prepare for the council elections.
